DIY VEGAN LIP BALM
2 x 4g Lip balm Tins
4g Carnauba Wax
4g Shea Butter
4g Coconut Oil
2 x drops Essential Oils- Peppermint
One of the products I have really started to enjoy making at home is zero waste lip balm. Apart from obviously being completely natural, it’s incredibly easy and quick to make!
Today we are going to share with you how to make this simple 3 ingredient vegan lip balm. It’s wonderful as a super moisturising lip protectant and can be customised with essential oils of your choice such as soothing lavender, antibacterial eucalyptus or the zesty citrus mix of FeelKraft.
(Please note whether you can take the oils both externally and internally)
HOW TO MAKE YOUR DIY VEGAN LIP BALM:
Melt the carnauba wax slowly over a bain-marie by sitting a heat proof bowl inside a pot with about an inch of warm water inside. Gently stir.
**DISCLAIMER Be careful with the hot water**
Once the wax has almost melted, add the coconut oil and shea butter and continue to gently stir until all ingredients are completely melted. I like to use an old chopstick to gently stir and mix with.
Carefully remove the bowl and place it on a protected surface (we are using a towel for this). Add 1-2 drops of your chosen essential oil & quickly mix together before the wax starts to set!
Pour the mixture into your chosen tins or jars (these are olds ones that I have reused) and place the lip balm in the fridge for 10-15 minutes or until it has solidified.
You are now ready to use and enjoy your DIY vegan lip balm, it’s as easy as that! It should last around 2 months and they also make great eco-friendly gifts to give to loved ones!
